Growing up in a traditional Asian family there were high expectations imposed on me from a young age, in the long term this caused me to be very insecure and nervous about my performance. I tended to dwell on the imperfect parts of my life, amplifying any minor issues that arose. For many years my life was filled with stress, anxiety and depression.
What I wanted was a life where stress and anxiety were NOT RUINING MY HAPPINESS.

When the body feels under threat, it produces stress hormones that make us feel anxious and tense.
